ELCA Church Council – Nomination only
The 21st Annual Assembly of the New England Synod will nominate two lay females of color and/or whose primary language is other than English to the 2009 ELCA Churchwide Assembly to stand for election to a six-year term on the Church Council of the ELCA. The 37-member Church Council is the board of directors of the ELCA and serves as the interim legislative authority between meetings of the churchwide assembly.
