Does Your Church Need A Change?

Skilled listening is one of the gifts in which the church is placing particularly high value as we move into more intentional avenues of transformation. The ELCA provides training for clergy and laity who have this gift and are willing to serve as coaches for congregations in transformation.  In every synod, coaches are trained and assigned to congregations in Transformational Ministry and NCD, also to new starts and redevelopments.  Entering into covenant with the congregation’s leaders, the coach commits to a schedule of prayer and communication with them.  His/her skills and objectivity provide support and accountability for the process of healthy transformation.

New England Synod Visioning Toolkit

Listening is the key word for those using this tool for transformational ministry!  Listening to the Word, listening to the congregation’s story, listening to the community and your neighbors, and listening for God is what a visioning process is all about!  Coaches are available to walk with you, or you can use the resource on your own. Talk with leaders at one of these congregations that plan to use this transformational tool:

Redeemer, Plattsburg, NY

Immanuel, Attleboro, MA

St. Mark, Norwich, CT

Christ, Natick, MA
