The 2006 Assembly

of the New England Synod ELCA

will be held at

the DCU (Digital Credit Union) Center

50 Foster St., downtown Worcester, Mass.

Thursday – Saturday, June 8-10, 2006

Our keynote speaker this year is The Rev. Dr. Barbara R. Rossing, professor of New Testament at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, discussing the topic of her popular book The Rapture Exposed: The Message of Hope in the Book of Revelation.  Another highlight this year is the election of the bishop as well as voting members to the 2007 ELCA churchwide assembly and members for synod council and synodical committees.

How to prepare for Assembly:

Register with a form and payment (payable to New England Synod) no later than May 10 for best pricing. Cost per person is $175. Later registrations will be at $190. This fee covers the costs of the assembly plus one meal: a buffet dinner on Friday evening at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Additional tickets for the buffet can be purchased at $25 each. The hotel is directly across the street from Wesley Methodist Church, location of the Friday night Eucharist service. Click here for the form.

You must arrange for your own overnight accommodations. Rooms have been reserved at a discount convention rate at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 10 Lincoln Square, Worcester (2 short blocks from the DCU Center). The room may be shared with others in order to reduce the cost. Deadline for the Crowne is May 18.  Click here for the hotel form.

Remember that each congregation is entitled to two lay voting members and it is the responsibility of each congregation to cover the travel, lodging and dining costs of its voting members (lay and clergy). Click here to see the assembly letter to each voting member.

Watch this webpage for the pre-assembly book of reports (in May) and other updates for assembly. The pre-assembly book will also be handed out at the registration table at the start of assembly.
