What will the next chapter of your congregation’s ministry look like? How can your congregation get healthier by growing faithfully—both “deep” and “wide?” What has to change in your life together as the Spirit breathes new life into you? How is Christ taking shape in you anew?

What is God calling your congregation to do?

To Envision

The New England Synod
Visioning Toolkit

The NE Synod Visioning Toolkit offers congregations

    Listen to the Bible
    Listen to their Members
    Listen to the Community
    And Listen for God.

To Change Transformational Ministry

Transforming Ministry in New England is for congregations who know they need to make some significant changes in their life together and are ready to get help to make it happen! Transforming Ministry is a covenant-based process for congregations who are struggling with issues of survival and are ready to take steps toward renewing for mission.

To Grow Natural Church Development

Natural Church Development or “NCD” is a process that starts with a congrega-tional assessment survey and moves leaders to focus their efforts on the aspect of congregational life that will most impact the health of the congregation. A Church Health Team of congregational leaders develops a plan in conversation with the whole congrega-tion and acts as “leaven in the loaf of the church” as committees, teams and the council implement the plan! The goal is change that makes for greater health in worship, learning, serving and sharing the gospel with those not yet in our churches!

To Affirm God’s Gifts? Asset Mapping

Asset mapping is a tool for
congregational health that helps your congregation “see the glass as half full”—that is, to see that God has already given you the resources needed for the task to which God is calling you! Asset mapping simply gets you thinking creatively about what you have and about linking those assets in new ways to meet community needs.

    Identify Resources
Link Those Resources and Think Creatively
Focus on One or Two New Initiatives

Dave Daubert’s Purpose and Guiding

    Principles Process
In December of 2007, Lutheran leaders from all over New England gathered to hear Dave Daubert speak on the essence of his book from Augsburg Fortress Publishing: Living Lutheran: Renewing Your Congregation. He encouraged leaders to use the development of purpose statements and guiding principles as a vehicle for getting clarity about God’s call—and getting serious about being transformed for mission.

Get Clarity About God’s Mission—and Your Purpose
    Develop a Purpose Statement
Formulate Guiding Principles that Influence your Decision-Making
