2012 Synod Assembly Registration Letter

The 2012 New England Synod Assembly "Trusting in Partnership" will be held June 8-10, 2012 at the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield, MA. Our three speakers will bring us news of the ministry we are doing through our partnerships with Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, Lutheran World Relief, and the ELCA Washington Office. The ELCA representative will be Presiding Bishop Mark Hanson, who will preside at the election of our new bishop. June 8 Youth gather for lunch
1 p.m. Opening of the Assembly
1:30 p.m. Ecclesiastical Ballot for Bishop
1:45– 5:30 p.m. Worship, ELCA report, bishop's report, keynotes, second ballot for bishop
5:30 p.m. buffet dinner
7 p.m. Ordination anniversaries
7:30-9:30 p.m. Candidates Forum followed by Compline
June 9 8 a.m. Eucharist
9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. plenary, keynote, elections, reference and counsel
3 p.m. Graduation of School of Lay Ministry
6:30 p.m. 'roving' dinner reception (multiple food stations throughout the Center) with entertainment by the Global Mission Musicians of the ELCA
June 10 9 a.m. Reference and Counsel
10 a.m. Eucharist with Ordination and Closing of the Assembly

ATTENDEE REQUIREMENTS: Congregations are entitled to two lay voting members. It is expected but not required, that one voting member be female and one male. Congregations may send a third lay voting member, as long as one of the three is a youth/young adult (age 30 or younger at time of election, and confirmed) or a person of color/language other than English. It is the responsibility of each congregation to cover the travel, lodging and dining costs of its voting members (lay and clergy)

ASSEMBLY FEE: 
$115 per person if registered after April 30

Fee includes three meals: Friday buffet, Saturday box lunch, and Saturday dinner. Additional meal tickets may be purchased.

No refunds after May 10.

LODGING Lodging reservation must be made separately using the information  below.  Be sure to pre-arrange your roommate and send in only one reservation form per room.  

Sheraton is full.  You may contact the Clarion Hotel, 1080 Riverdale Rd., West Springfield, Mass., at 413-781-8750, and use New England Synod Group #910834 to receive our rate of $109 per room.  

ASSEMBLY REGISTRATION: Registration for assembly is open now and will remain open until 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 7. In order to facilitate the election, voting members must register by 5 p.m. on Thursday in order to be able to participate in the elections.  Please note that each registration must have a dedicated email address.
