Calling all Church Office Workers:

Church Office Staff Retreat

April 30 - May 2, 2006

Camp Calumet, Freedom, NH

Who is the retreat for?

The Lutheran Church Office Staff Retreat is for your hard-working, competent office staff personnel (administrative assistants).  Sending them to the retreat is a great way to show how much you appreciate their hard work during the year.

What goes on at the retreat?

The Retreat is a great resource for your office staff personnel:  learning about Copy Right Laws, discussions on the best layout for newsletters, information about new programs for creating those fabulous newsletters and bulletins.   It is also a time for meeting new people, sharing problems, and offering solutions for problems (especially those unique to their positions) that may arise on the job.  It is a great place to meet other wonderful people from all over New England and to rediscover the gifts that God has given to each of us.

Why is there a fee?

The small $145 fee covers the cost of lodging and 3 meals a day (no cooking or cleaning at the retreat….Yahoo!)  The fee also covers the cost of activities and information received at the seminars, lectures and craft projects.  Scholarships are available through Thrivent.  Please let us know if financial aid is needed.

What’s Happening This Year?

·       Scrapbooking is on the agenda for Sunday evening.  After 25 years there is a lot to document.  So bring your memories of past retreats (and some trinkets if you want) to help fill the pages.

·       A field trip to The Remick Country Doctor Museum and Farm was a suggestion that we have been able to incorporate into this years event.

·       A representative from the US Postal Service will be speaking to us about new postal programs, postage rates, mass mailings…

·       Sister Virginia Strahan will be joining us.  Sister Virginia is the Manager of New England Synod Resource Center and the editor of the Lutheran Link.

·       Last year was Computer 101 this year will be Computer 102.

·       Beading/Jewelry making is also on the agenda.  (Small fee possible.)

·       Let’s not forget the traditional Yankee Swap.  Bring something you created or a special gift others would enjoy.

·       Holy CommunionWe will also share our oneness in Christ in a worship service with Holy Communion.  (Weather permitting—outdoors.)

·       FUN! - Most importantly we come together to have fun renewing old friendships and cultivating new ones.

Camp Calumet

Camp Calumet is situated on Lake Ossipee, in Freedom, New Hampshire.  The setting is perfect for taking time out of busy schedules to appreciate the world God has given us.  During the retreat, there is time for hiking the many nature trails surrounding the camp, reading by the lake or even canoeing.

The Calumet staff is THE BEST!  They are very helpful and attentive.  Calumet also provides the BEST meals one can imagine… and you don’t have to do the dishes when you’re done eating!  There is also time set aside for shopping in tax-free Conway for those who LOVE to shop.
