Campus Ministry Committee
Campus Ministry Committee
Mission Statement
The Campus Ministry Committee of the New England Synod exists to promote Campus Ministry as a part of the Church's life by continuing to support and oversee established campus ministries, visioning and developing possibilities for new ministry, and assisting congregations in strengthening the faith and Christian action of students and academic community, and in doing so to upbuild the whole Church.
The committee typically meets twice a year and addresses issues including:
- Finance - Allocating Synod Campus Ministry funds to individual ministries and programs, and ensuring that ministries are acting as responsible stewards of these funds;
- Communication - Sharing the good news about campus ministry within the Synod; and
- Outreach - Imagining and implementing strategies to grow and expand the work of campus ministry in New England. Such strategies may include (but are not limited to) working with Cooperating Congregations in Ministry to strengthen connections with nearby campuses; working with other Synod units that focus on mission and outreach to identify areas of collaboration; maintaining and strengthening the College Student Contact Network (which collects names of college-bound New England graduating high school seniors and forwards them to campus pastors); and seeking non-traditional sources of funding to support campus ministry.
