Rostered Retirees

Rostered Retirees

A New England Synod Treasure

Rostered Retirees and their spouses are held in extra high regard in the New England Synod. They number about 300, come from every imaginable Lutheran tradition and live all over New England, as well as beyond. They are a recognized and respected treasure – called upon for leadership, which draws on their years of experience and accumulated wisdom – as well as their continued willingness to be involved in ministry.

Rostered Retirees are a respected presence at synod assemblies where they have voice and vote. They are not charged a registration fee and are eligible for a modest travel and accommodation subsidy. The synod Coordinator of Retirement Ministries (retired Pastor Ron Jackson) is a communication link – speaking for synod retirees to their Bishop, her staff and the Synod Council --- as well as speaking to our retirees for their designated leaders.

Rostered Retirees gather here and there on an irregular basis. Two regular gatherings do occur --- at Camp Calumet during the First Week of Easter – and at Koinonia of Vermont, in August.
